Women-Owned Business Australia

Unlocking Australia's women-owned supply chain potential.

Women-Owned Business Australia (WOBA) connects women-owned businesses with purchasing decision-makers, strengthens supplier capability, and shapes more inclusive procurement practices across Australia.

WOBA is Australia’s first dedicated procurement and certification initiative focused solely on women-owned businesses, founded by Entrepreneurial & Small Business Women Australia (ESBWA).

The Women-Owned Business Ecosystem

The Women-Owned Business Ecosystem identifies, verifies, prepares and actively connects women-owned businesses into procurement supply chains.

  • Two women sitting at a dining table or workspace, laughing and interacting with a laptop, with a phone placed on the table in front of them, in a well-lit indoor setting.

A growing database of women-owned suppliers

Building Australia's first database dedicated to platforming women-owned businesses of all sizes.

Registration is free. Once registered, your business enters our curated supplier network, and when a buyer opportunity arises that fits your business, we'll reach out to make the connection.

We’re building an expanded platform that will house practical procurement resources, templates and educational tools to support ongoing learning for both buyers and suppliers.

    Certification for women-owned businesses

Developing a nationally recognised certification for women-owned businesses.

This certification will provide buyers with confidence and transparency, while giving women founders formal recognition that strengthens their credibility in procurement processes. The pathway will be clear, accessible and aligned with industry expectations.

Several seated women are listening, and some are taking notes or using electronic devices. The room has large windows with city buildings visible outside.

    Clear procurement-readiness pathways

Structured support through in-person workshops, online masterclasses and industry-specific procurement education.

These sessions focus on practical capability development, including tender readiness, compliance requirements, pricing strategy and capability statement development. Guest speakers and industry experts contribute to a growing ecosystem that actively supports women-owned businesses to compete and scale.

Why This Matters

  • Blue circular button with a dark blue X in the center

Until now, Australia has not had a dedicated advocacy body focused specifically on women-owned businesses within procurement and economic policy.

  • A pie chart with predominantly blue sections and small dark blue section at the top.

Women-owned businesses remain underrepresented, with only 1% of government contracts and spending by large businesses on suppliers globally going to women-owned businesses.

  • A blue circular button with eight black arrows pointing outward in different directions.

We have the opportunity to ensure that women are given greater opportunities to achieve economic security by reducing barriers to procurement.

We believe in purposeful procurement.

Procurement is one of the most powerful levers we have to drive economic participation and close the gender wealth gap, but only if access is deliberate, supported, and inclusive.

WOBA makes it easier for businesses, governments and institutions to find and work with women-owned suppliers, aligning real opportunities with real businesses, empowering organisations to meet their inclusion goals and helping women-led businesses access the connections that move them forward.

Whether you're a buyer committed to inclusion, or a woman-led business ready to grow, we help make the right connections happen.
